If you take a lot of pictures with a digital camera, you've probably
noticed that the filenames created by the camera are less than
descriptive. Typically, they look something like this:
DSC000001.JPG
DSC000002.JPG
DSC000003.JPG
DSC000004.JPG
DSC000005.JPG
Once you get your pictures into your computer, trying to find a
particular picture can be time consuming, when all you've got to work
with are generic filenames like those. Your only alternative is to go
through each file, one by one, and rename them to something a bit more
revealing. This can also be time consuming, as there may be hundreds
of pictures to go through.
This is where Name Dropper comes in! By assigning commonly used words
or names to buttons, Name Dropper allows you to "assemble" filenames
by
pointing & clicking; and if you have many pictures that are part of a
"series" of the same thing, Name Dropper allows you to easily append
series numbers to the end of the filenames. For example, you may have 5
photos of a loved one opening a birthday present. Once out of the
camera, they would have filenames similar to the samples above. Once
you've run them through Name Dropper though, they could look something
like this...
